The last time India toured South Africa for a three-match Test series in 2018, Virat Kohli scored 286 runs in three matches at an average of 47.67. Mohammed Shami picked up 15 wickets in three games at an average of 17.07.

Kohli also scored the most runs in the ODI series that followed. In six matches, he scored 558 runs at an average of 186. Kuldeep Yadav picked up the most wickets with the ball. In six games, he took 17 wickets at an average of 13.88.
